I'm sure that many of us have enough hardware that we can cobble together a
reasonable machine they can use for furthering their education. Of course,
they may not want our old junk :)
I've got a Celeron 2.4GHz next to me just asking for a second chance at
life.
Another thought I had would be an Arduino - they can learn programming, open
source philosophy and hardware hacking in a relatively cheap package.
