Sure, I'd prefer no-one paid any attention to the spam in the first
place. But if they are going to, then I'd personally prefer that they
didn't reply to the original spam thread.

Starting a new one and referencing the original spam is, IMHO, better
than sending the original spam message back and forth with legitimate
emails in tow. People who are on my "accept and never send to spam"
list start replying to something that was marked as spam it's rather
annoying.
