[clug] spdif output for MythTV

in an attempt to verify my audio setup is ok I'm trying to verify my ASLA config is correct.
I'm outputting to Digital Coax (SPDIF) to AMP. I've got a onboard spdif output

I can't get the speaker-test to work it only outputs in stereo speakers (left and right)
not center or rear speakers

eg
speaker-test -l1 -c6 -twav -Dplug:default

Has anyone got a similar setup.
