There are three major subsystems for packet classification in the Linux
kernel, with varying facility.  You might find the Linux Advanced
Routing and Traffic Control howto useful.

Alternately, you could have googled for "linux packet classification" or
"linux packet classes" and followed, say, *ANY* link that showed up.
