I'm a strong believer in having the kids use computers where you can
see them easily. At the same time, 99.999% of what they do on a
computer is either so annoying (supertuxkart) or so boring (tamagotchi
tamatown) that I don't want it in my face if I'm trying to use a
computer or read a book or do stuff around the house.

At nine and five years old, the worst thing my kids do so far is to
try out flash games that turn out to be more violent than I'd like. As
a person who grew up with Coyote and Road Runner, I'm not opposed to
cartoon violence, but some stuff online does move beyond cartoon
boundaries.

So I think that regulation of kids and the internet is a parental
responsibility that should not be co-opted by the state. Education of
parents is the key here, not ill-considered technical 'quick fixes'
that will screw up far more than they'll fix.
