Hi everyone,

It's been pointed out to me that there's probably a fair population of people
on the CLUG list who are not automatically also on the Linux Australia list.
In that case, I've been remiss - unless people tell me not to, I'm going to
forward relevant bits of news from the LA list on, as part of getting the word
out about the larger community in which we play.

In case there are people who haven't heard about LCA - the annual Linux
Conference Australia - then it need only be said that it's one of the top
three Linux conferences in the world, it's right here in Australia (Hobart,
this year), and many CLUG regulars - Tridge, Bob, Hugh, JK and others too
numerous for me to remember - have spoken at LCA. If you're a student, they
have special rates, and as you can see from the below there are also ways to
get cheaper rates too. LCA is, in short, so mind-numbingly awesome it's
single any one feature out of the great bubbling mass of awesome that it is.
If you can, go.

Have fun, Paul

Here's your chance to form part of the operational hub of this highly regarded
and dynamic event, soon to be held, in Hobart, Tasmania.

As in the past, we are again looking for for a team of around 40 motivated and
reliable individuals who would enjoy giving up their own time to help make
this conference a smooth running and memorable event.

As a volunteer, you could contribute in many ways, such as:

~ * Administration
~ * Registration Desk
~ * Audio+Video
~ * Network
~ * Partners Programme
~ * Runner
~ * Venue Helper
~ * Driver
~ * Car Availability
~ * Before or After Assistance
~ * Other Skills

All of which will combine to ensure the overall success of this major event.

Head on over to https://conf.linux.org.au/volunteer to register which will
then reveal the full listing in which to make your choice.

Volunteers do not have to pay to attend, but this entitlement does not extend
to joining actual presentation sessions, nor cover the cost of the Penguin
Dinner, accomodation etc.
This call is going out at a vital time in the overall conference planning
process and your early response would be greatly appreciated. This is indeed a
very positive way of putting something into this vibrant Linux Community of ours.

Many thanks in anticipation.......
Your LCA'09 Conference Committee
