The terminal emulator has received something like 'enter graphics mode'
or worse...

You can 'tput rs1' or similar (those with better memories will know the
terminfo/termcap definitions!)

IFF you have it aliased, because you'll be typing blind...

Or in the menu on the terminal window,
 - first try 'soft reset',
 - then 'hard reset'.
