Just a follow on (and another question)...

I did further investigating and, yeah, there's nothing that can be done 
about this- it uses an unknown chipset and isn't picked up by lsusb as 
far as I can tell. I'll return it tomorrow.

I was really looking for an Asus My Cinema U3100 Mini USB TV Tuner

, since the OCAU wiki had an article on how they were very well 
supported. Anyone know places in Canberra selling them? I tried JB-Hifi, 
Dick Smith and Powerhouse today... any other thoughts?
