The question you should be asking before asking about the Freerunners
is "Do I really want a phone, or would I be happy with a substandard
embedded Linux device that just happens to have a GSM modem and who's
company is tweaking things here and there but does not appear to
actually be making any effort to make a phone?"

I hear that the Android is apparently an extremely locked down Linux
phone (no root access without the developer model).

On the day *I* go to work for Microsoft, faint oinking sounds will be
heard from far overhead, the moon will not merely turn blue but
develop polkadots, and hell will freeze over so solid the brimstone
will go superconductive.
