There are plenty of people who write open source or free software on
this list.  There is also plenty of different ways the software is
managed.  For my lot of software I would say its un managed, but for
most of it is is just me or a very small number of people that works ok.

That sort of haphazard approach is not recommended though, but its fine
for me :)
