That's the one.
And here I go inciting violence and terrorism - John Wyndham, through
that novel, suggests that the only way to deal with an intolerant,
militant mindset is to exterminate it. The Sealanders (the telepathic
society who rescue the mutant children) are essentially preparing for
a war that they believe is inevitable, between the religious
fundamentalists (such as the people of Waknuk) and everyone else.
So the *second* thing we do, let's kill all the extremists![1]

suggest becoming familiar with the works of Shakespeare, and
developing an appreciation for political humour. Otherwise when the
truly stupid people of the world take the call to kill all the
lawyers seriously, you'd have to go and find every person ever
involved in a production of Shakespeare's "Henry VIII" and charge
them with treason! The irony!
