[clug] Linux on new school computers [SEC=UNCLASSIFIED]

How about some genuine FOSS equivalents?

Geoserver - publish your own data in a Google Earth friendly format (as
well as OGC)
	http://geoserver.org/

Then there's a raft of FOSS geography tools to be found here, though I'd
classify a lot of them as having a steep learning curve:
	http://opensourcegis.org/
	http://freegis.org/

Viz, they are software tools, not geography teaching tools per-se, I
wouldn't really sit a geopgraphy class down with Mapserver and PostGIS
unless they were meant to be learning things like SQL.

Definitely one of the FOSS astronomy pages KStars?

How about GNU Radio for learning about signal processing?

Cheers,

Antti

http://maps.google.com is always a good demo, and a good speed test when
flipping between views, downloading biggish data. Geography is
something everyone understands, and showing the building you're
currently in sometimes gets an "ah!".
