I had a similiar problem about 3 years ago, and all the data was recovered and burnt to DV.
The cost was around $750.

I'm not sure that the freezer will help in this case.  It sounds like
something is broken inside.  I have called around for a few quotes and
it seems a little expensive at this point (up to $3000).

I guess this is a good lesson in backing up all of your data.
