I did say that no file types are configured, meaning that the Manage panel is
empty, yet .pdf files launch a viewer.

Well, this is 126.96.36.199. I entered 'yadayadayada' in the address bar and my privoxy log

No, the startup page is not changed by the update, just that another page
is brought up instead of mine when Firefox is launched after an update.
