Folks,

Anyone interested in 24,000/1,000 ADSL2+ at home for monthly:
20Gbe $59.95
40Gb $79.95
80Gb	$119.95 <http://www.internode.on.net/adsl/pricing/home.htm>

Traffic is shaped over-limit. From (Telsra) ADSL DSLAM it's 1500k/256k,
using ADSL modem on ADSL2+ DSLAM is 8,000/1,000, ADSL2 is 12,000/1,000
And of course, YMMV - *actual* speed depends on distance, line quality,
phase of moon, ...

You can register your interest at: <http://www.agile.com.au/demand/>

Of course, Agile/Internode have only *one* ADSL2+ DSLAM in ACT just now,
BUT on their FAQ page <http://www.internode.on.net/adsl2/faq/index.htm>
they say:

"In some circumstances, communities, councils or businesses in an area may
find the utility of Agile broadband services sufficiently high that they
are prepared to make a contribution to the establishment costs of an Agile
DSLAM in their area. If you are interested in this option, please contact
Agile directly."

I've talked to Agile and they need to know 3 things:
* Number of people interested (per exchange)
* Monthly plans, and
* any "contribution" the group will make to the install.
[i.e. an additional ex-gratia payment on top of $139 connect fee]

They were also interested in kinowing the community groups or
businesses...

How much is enough??
They couldn't tell me and couldn't say what other groups have come up
with. Not even if $10,000 or $100,000 was closer to the mark...

The complexity is this: no two installs are the same - the DSLAM is a
fixed price, but one of the big variable costs is the 'back-link' to the
POP - Transact in Dickson in this case...

So for me out in West Belconnen, off the Scullin exchange, they have to
buy or build a 15-20km link back to Dickson (you'd hope all that Transact
fibre would be available, but...)

When/If we have people committed, then I will contact them again...

SO - for those with a Need for Speed [private *or* business], write to me
with what exchange you're off and the financial committment you'd make
AND register your interest on the Agile 'demand' page:
 http://www.agile.com.au/demand/

In two weeks, if there's a modicum of interest or more, I'll summarise and
write to Agile.

cheers
steve
