I am using Mandrake 10.0. Years ago I could add new devices with mkdev 
plus major and minor numbers etc.

I want a copy of /dev/port so I can do simple reading and writing to a 
port, namely the various parts of the printer port.

I am sure I did in early version of Mandrake. Any suggestions?
