[clug] Debian Sarge or Ubuntu on the desktop?

Hi!

I notice there has been a discussion about Debian Sarge and Ubuntu for server use; however, I
would be keen to know what people think about the two for the desktop.

I am relatively new to Linux and dual boot Ubuntu and Windows XP. Up until Ubuntu I have not
thought Linux was ready to replace my Windows environment (Xandros looked promising) but now I let
Ubuntu boot as the default ("...one small step..."). Debian Sarge seems to be getting good
reviews and I am wondering about changing. I guess given that Ubuntu is working really well; I
wonder what extra I would get by making the change.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Peter
