AFAICS, there was no response to that message; it would better be posed on
a gdb-specific mailing list (surely those must exist...)
Few things you might think about, though:
Does "nmap" show the port as open on the target board?
Does gdb have a few "extra debug" switches you can use?
Does stracing gdb tell you something is wrong? (though stracing gdb just
feels /wrong/ to me....)
