[clug] Upgrading libgtk

I am running RH 7.1 on an old box that I do not intend
to upgrade just yet. I want to install Firefox 1.0 but
it wants libgtk-x11-2.0. I have two questions:

How do I get the latest version of the library?

Can it be installed on a 2.4.2-2 kernel?

If not, is it possible to upgrade to Fedora Core 2
from RH 7.1?
