Maybe you have it linked to the wrong jdk binary

cd /usr/lib/mozila-1.X/plugins
rm the javaplugin.so
ln -s /usr/java/jdkXXX/lib/jre/plugins/ns6XX/javaplugin.so

Try a couple of the plugin binaries restarting Mozilla each time until it works
