I have upgraded Mandrake 9.1 to 9.2 and I'm having trouble
with the nVidia driver. The screen goes blank, the monitor
clicks, and then it's all over.

The install:

   sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-5336-pkg1.run

ran to completion without problems. The XFFree86.log shows
everything appears to be working fine:

   (II) LoadModule: "nvidia"

there seems to be no trouble loading the kernel modules:

   # lsmod | grep nvidia
   nvidia 2126440 0 (unused)

the nvidia device file appear to be there:

   # ls -l /dev/nvidia*
   crw------- 1 plm root 195, 0 Jan 1 1970 /dev/nvidia0
   crw------- 1 plm root 195, 255 Jan 1 1970 /dev/nvidiactl

Any good ideas?
