[clug] Fedora Core and Debian

Hello All,

I am just about ready to perform a wipe and reinstall on some systems in
my home net. On my desktop I currently run a Debian-ised version of RH9.
This gives me access to Debian package management and repositories as
well as supporting the legacy RPM stuff. It also gives me good driver
support.

I was looking at Fedora Core as a replacement that I would then hack
over to get the Debian stuff I want, or to go all out for Debian.

Can anyone tell me what constitutes a stable release of Fedora?
(The FAQ's don't give a clear def.)

Is Core 1 regarded as stable?

Is 'Core 2 - Testing' an equivalent to Debian 'testing' or is it more
like 'unstable'.

How much was lost from the OS when RH dropped it?

Has anyone tried the unofficial 'Sarge' ISO's?
(e.g. http://sunsite.cnlab-switch.ch/ftp/mirror/debian-unofficial/sarge/
or http://ftp.acc.umu.se/pub/cd-images/debian-unofficial/sarge/)

Does any one have a ballpark date for the release of 'Sarge' into
stable?
(I know, it's ready when it's ready, don't answer that.)

Thank You,

Scott
