I used to use mserv, which is a bit different since you control it
remotely and it plays locally using mpg321 or whatever you want.

It seems to have gained icecast output streaming since I used to
use it. (It was dead upstream from 2000 until 2003. This topic
caused me to relook at it, and I might start using it again. :-)

It is controllable by HTML, a telnet interface and a command-line
tool (which just talks to the telnet interface).

It sorts by album artist, searchs, lets you rate the songs as you
go and prioritises by rating.

(I only stopped using it because the soundcard in my linux box
crackles lile no tomorrow, although it's prolly more a problem
with the 5.25"-bay speaker I'm using.)
