[clug] SAMBA IS BROKEN <ERROR: nmbd is already running.>

Hi list,
I have the following problem, don´t understand , my samba is broken, my
system don´t respond,  I reboot the system and watching the log file
(log.nmbd), I see a line with a strange description:

  started asyncdns process 3540
[2004/01/12 08:17:47, 0] lib/pidfile.c:pidfile_create(86)
  ERROR: nmbd is already running. File /var/run/samba/nmbd.pid exists and
process id 3509 is running.
