It's a great counter-example of how to correct weaknesses in a user 
interface. Rather than simply displaying the portion of the URL after 
the "@" in the status bar (a brilliantly simple idea from one of the 
guys at work that took all of five minutes to conjure), Microsoft 
decided that it was easier to simply abandon support for that URL 
scheme altogether.

I think it's proof that Microsoft has a sense of humour. Surely this 
kind of joke is on-topic for this list?

Then again, perhaps someone confused "Linux user" with "Microsoft 
hater", and Microsoft doesn't have a sense of humour.
