Tres cool! I will go away and look at kmonte, kexec, bootimg and LOBOS.

I don't think LinuxBIOS will do all that I want because:

1. I have buckleys chance of getting to work on my older Celeron MB

2. to boot non-Linux OSes they replace the small linux kernel with a
Bochs BIOS which also removes the linux kernel functionality I wanted.

I think a small linux on disk mays still be the only way to provide a
pseudo "Lights Out" platform management.
