I want to hear about rapid prototyping of relatively portable GUI apps.
I am hoping to get the same functionality in my lab that others have
when using VB or VC++. Preferably in C++ or Python.
I tried QT3 but found that it was really nice on Linux and not available
free-as-in-beer on Windows. The last no-cost Windows version is 2.x and
as a result my great GUI app was killed after it was half finished,
since I couldn't be bothered going to QT2 and was thoroughly pissed off
with the whole affair.
Windows was only needed to run the National Instruments motion control
card. It's so mega-proprietary you can't even plug it in without a
permit.
