Unfortunately they are, but they will still support them for a while and
"dont quote me" but I believe they are committed to one more release
cycle (speed upgrade i think)  before they drop it.

I also believe that Intel has bought both the IP for the alpha and most
of the original alpha development team, so you might find some
interesting deviations in future intel 64 bit processors.
