Hi,
I installed mii-diag last night and the ethernet link on my laptop
is dropping in and out. Forcing full/half duplex or 10BaseT, (confirmed
by switch's blinken-lights) or plugging straight in the switch doesn't
seem to help matters. Since it also did it on my 10baseT hub, I don't
think it's the switch.
mii-diag -w gives output like:
> 09:32:58.829 MII BMSR now 7809: no link, NWay busy, No Jabber (0000).
> 09:33:01.169 MII BMSR now 780d: Good link, NWay busy, No Jabber (0000).
Or it exits because the MII transceiver has gone away.
Swapping the Xircom REM56g for a RBEM56g (aka Tulip chipset) didn't seem
to help with network freezes much either (haven't tried it with mii-diag yet).
Ideas?
Antti
