[clug] A desperate cry for the clue bat

Thanks for the help guys - unfortunately I had broken it too much (even
after trying some of the suggestions - I was too far gone in dependency hell
to climb out) and I needed a working system so I ended up going the
re-install route :-( but I have taken the precaution of locking the version
of X to one that works for me at the moment and try to update it again at
some later stage...
