[clug] Is Novell-SuSE deal a brilliant Big Blue power play?

Thinking from IBM's position, they have a big investment in Linux
and corporate customers want certainty (or indemnity) against SCO.

Now there is one company on earth that SCO can't touch...
Hmmm, if only Novell had a linux distro...
Bingo, now they do. Suse's immune.

OK, that's the SCO threat diluted out of existence,
IBM can get back to Linux as usual.

Are they pleased? $50M says yes,
better investment than buying the rats off,
now let them freeze on the sidelines.
It's better argued here:

Being immune could give Suse a huge boost in the corporate world,
I just hope they continue to develope the desktop and support the small user.
