I was about to say http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/linux

however I had a glance and it seems samba.org is using something else to archive
the list there now and that page does not simply show you a list of links to
the yearly or monthly archives from the past however many years.

The stuff there just now only goes back as far as
http://lists.samba.org/archive/linux/thrd18.html which is some time in 2001.

Tim or Martin, is there any chance of a page linking to all the archives
like we used to have on there being made avaialble?
