One particular problem is that you almost always lose hardware acceleration 
with Xinerama.  AFAICT, only the NVIDIA non-GPL driver can avoid this, 
because the hardware and driver supports dual head from a single framebuffer.

I've previously run Xinerama from a Matrox G400 combo (three heads), but if 
anyone knows how to get a i830 into Xinerama mode, I'd be very keen to talk / 
buy you pizza.
