[clug] X configuration troubles

Hi

I am trying to configure XFree86 4.3.0 on a machine with a nVidia
Quadro4 380 XGL card and a Samsung SyncMaster 172T display (using the
DVI connector).  Running X -configure generates a sensible looking
configuration file, but when I start X, I just get a blank (black)
screen and the power LED on the monitor blinks green.

Is anyone familiar with this setup and can tell me what the blinking
LED means?  Any ideas on how to get X up and running would be much
appreciated!
