Yes, I did two things:
- "mt setblk" on writing and reading
- use program that use fixed block i/o (tar)
'tar' is designed for tapes and knows how to do it. I will be astonished
to find that it is the cause of the problem.
Anyway, I also read the tape with 'dd' and ended up with exactly the
same file, so the corruption must have happened on the way to the tape
BTW, I am now following another possibility: usb interference with
scsi.
