One previous discussion:
http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/linux/2002-August/013259.html

There was a previous discussion - which I think I started - about
creating a bootable CD to automatically partition, format, install
Debian, then recover the packages previously installed (through use of
the --(get|set)-selections option), then recover the data that was
specially archived. But I can't find it anywhere. Google is no use -
it doesn't seem to treat any of my posts as authoritative, and when I
look for "Diedrich", it forwards me off to some lab at IBM.

Another discussion involving DVD-R:
http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/linux/2002-November/014299.html, and
http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/linux/2002-November/014310.html
