[clug] Wanna hold an installfest?

Hey folk,

as mentioned at the last meeting, I am now a committee member for the
national Australian Unix Users Group. We had a meeting on the weekend, and
it was decided that AUUG think it would be cool to help hold installfests
around Australia.

I know that we're interested in doing something like this at the CLUG
level, so here's my suggestion:

We should turn the stand at the computer market into a flyer distribution
thing. We should encourage people to attend an installfest, because that
way they're more likely to end up with a working system than if we just
hand them a CD. The flyer should also probably say something like "please
backup your system before bringing it, cause we might delete stuff
accidentally".

AUUG is willing to contribute:
 - assistance with getting a venue if we can't find a free one
 - advertising assistance
 - insurance coverage
 - CDs

In return, CLUG would need to provide the geeks and enthusiasm.

Methinks that the start of University semesters are a good time to hold
these things, as students start getting told they need a Linux box for
assignments. Obviously March is too far away -- does anyone have a
suggestion for a date?

Anyways, just my two cents.

Cheers,
Mikal
