ssh agent forwarding

Years ago when 1.2.27 was the latest version of ssh I seem to remember
there being an agent forwarding feature which doesn't seem to exist in
openssh.

Does anyone know the details of this?  Was it a security hole?  Has it just
never been implemented in openssh?

I use ssh-agent all the time but sometimes need to relay through another
machine to get where I want to go.
