linux modem

Hi
I am using windows 98 and linux both on a same
pc(dedktop).I couldn't make a dial up connection
because the initializing modem wasn't able to finish
and then after canceling it , I got an error
message.Anyway I am using HSP56 Micro Modem PCTEL inc
version 016(internal modem).Does anyone know if this
modem can work with linux operating system?
