Looking for Desktop Disto

Hi all.  I'm trying to decide on a Linux distro to be used as a Windows 
98/2000/XP replacement.

Has anybody looked at Xandros (http://www.xandros.com/) or have any better 
suggestions?  It may be desirable to run some legacy Windows applications.
