from what I understand from speaking to people who have organised conferences,
it gets busier as we get closer to the event. However we need people to help
find and boook the venues, caterers, accomodation, etc. We need to set up
facilities for handling conferences fees and related items, and then handle it
when it comes in. We need to do various advertising and press work (which the
perth people have raised the bar with...) We need a committee to read CFP
responses and similar materials and to work out who wil be speaking. There is
a bunch more stuff I cant remember off the top of my head, and during the
conference itself life becomes even more hectic. <g>
