In Brads defence, he was actually trying to be very helpful here. Asking
this sort of question on this list is perfectly appropriate (as Brad would
confirm). The warning he put put was not to send a question like this on
the linux-kernel mailing list. People on that list would not appreciate
this sort of question at all! There are some very strong views on that
list about the use of closed-source kernel modules.

Brad was just sending a warning not to step into a minefield.
