Compact Flash PCMCIA access?

Hi all,

is there a way to access the CF devices via a PCMCIA adaptor unde the
2.4.xx series of kernmels?

I believ that it works quite well for the 2.2.xx series PCMCIA but what
about 2.4.xx?

I have seen some wierd behaviour - like laptop shutting downm when a CF
card is inserted into the laptop... 

Any ideas/pointers as to where to look for info/patches?
