Just to followup I have managed to locate a Linux solution to play
these Windows Media Player webcasts. Full details at

Whilst it doesn't satisfy 100% opensoftware at least I can now have it
sitting as a small window on my linux box. And at only 40 kBit/s the
video feed isn't a great bandwidth hog.. Quality isn't great either as
expected for the bandwidth...
