Open Relay Checker before Opening MTA

Try using http://www.orbz.org/, they have a quite good list.  
They run tests on open relays and keep a list.  

There is also http://www.rfc-ignorant.org  They check for the existance of postmaster and abuse users and a number of other things.

The problem I've found is if your mail is relayed by a postbox.  sendmail won't run checks right through the Received: header.
