Computing Assistance Support & Education (CASE - http://www.case.org.au)
spoke with TransACT long ago about the significant community development
opportunities that would be possible with the advent of a high speed
network in our community. I also remember quite
clearly being told at PCUG presentations that this would be offered.
IMHO,
local peering is one of the few reasons I would even consider using the
service. After all, at .19/meg additional data charges (after a relatively
small allowance) who could afford such a service? It will be great for
local and pay TV, and maybe even telephone services but hey gang - anyone
remember why the net is so popular? And what enabled it to become what it
is? Hint, starts with an "O".
Cheers.
