About six months ago I tried to get the server set up with support for
other IM systems, and gave up in frustration.  As mentioned by someone
else, the Jabber to Jabber stuff worked fantastically, not so the suport
for other systems.  I've been waiting for Debian to release a package
that sets all that up automatically.
