[Q] Keyboard does not respond from the console

In that case I guess we had different problems, because my mouse was
plugged in and operating fine.  Only the keyboard stopped working, and
that was after X started.

I always disable GPM - I never have a use for it on my desktop, so I
don't think it was that.
