Um.. experimented how?

I've seen it happen, when mime attachments got corrupted by a content
filter and hence the signature no longer matched.  Naturally my mail
client informed me of the fact, but since I didn't know the bloke from a
bar of soap anyway, I didn't particularly care ;)
