Your "apt-get install <anything>" is a great example of *the* paramount
LUG mailing list birdie flip, in recent years, topping even the venerable
"man <anything>".
The suggestion of an editor as a configuration tool is also a well known
anti-support classic.
Unfortunately, the suggestion of vim comes up short. The true non-answer
would suggest nvi, or elvis; alternatively, the bathtub-inclusive
non-answer would (of course) point to emacs, especially if a major mode is
involved. This suggestion of ease over stubborn adherence to tradition -
or full-blown elisp-powered irrationality - could confuse the common LUG
troll, and should thus be avoided.
You just didn't have the staying power on that one... better luck next time.
